when i reached the airport in the late morning, i was told at the counter that my domestic flight had been postponed to two hours later. just like the last time, there were no calls, no emails, no notification before hand. except this time, it was worse, because i had a connecting flight from ho chi minh to singapore at 5.25pm and i could not afford to miss it.
if i miss my flight home, it would mean that:
- i will be stranded in HCMC for the SECOND time. HAHA. talk about deja vu!
- i will have to spend christmas alone in a city with completely no festive spirit.
so when i was still in the air at 4.20pm, i prayed and prayed for divine intervention.
4.30pm, the plane landed. 4.35pm, the plane's exits opened. but i couldn't just dash to the arrival hall because the plane stops in the middle of nowhere, and we had to wait for the jetstar bus to come and ferry us to the arrival hall. 4.45pm, people were still taking their own sweet time boarding the jetstar bus. 4.50pm, the bus crawled 30 metres to the arrival hall.
4.52pm, i ran out of the arrival hall of the domestic terminal. 4.53pm, i sprinted 200m to the international terminal with my messenger bag, my 6kg backpack, and 1kg worth of coffee in my hands. 4.54pm, i ran up two flights of escalator to the second floor. 4.55pm, i arrived at the tiger airways check-in counter -
and, thank God there was still a staff at the check in counter!!! i barely made it! if i was one minute late, i swear i would have missed it. but i didn't! i was given a ticket pass back to my sunny island, and i made my second dash to the boarding gates. and finally! i touched down at my seat on the plane!
i am so thankful to be back home. i need a few days' rest and some quality time to catch up with my friends, and after that, i will diligently do up my travel log!
so till then, i'd like to wish everyone a very happy christmas!
