Colour of loneliness

When the sky loses its blue
and beauty loses its refined taste
When facts cease to be true
and education goes to waste

When the canopy loses its green
and flowers wither from their bloom
When a child reaches thirteen
innocence gives way to pubescent gloom

When red fades from the lips
and the warm glow leaves the eyes
From the mouth, honesty slips
and promises turn into lies

When the sun loses its orange tint
and dullness fills the day
When the stars shine with a mere glint
sailors cannot find their way

When the bones lose their ivory white
and are reduced to dust and ashes
When helpless tears fill the night
and hopes for comfort dashes

When the Lord withdraws His hand
all the senses become bland -
That is the breath of sorrow
the depth of despair
the shade of numbness
and the colour of loneliness.
